John is a Dual-Practising Barrister providing Advocacy, Drafting, and Advice to clients in all areas of Sport Law, Civil and Commercial matters.
Being a practicing Barrister affords John the advantages of broader rights of audience, combined with the ability to offer traditional written and oral advice for his clients.
John represents clients on both contentious and non-contentious commercial and sport related matters.
John has a broad contentious practice that includes all types of Contract, Trust, Property, Insolvency and Landlord and Tenant disputes.
John’s recent instructions include advising and representing companies and individuals on breaches of commercial leases, insurance covenants, and complex possession proceedings. John is also currently representing clients with property trust disputes, service charge issues, boundary disputes and breach of easement matters.
John’s other recent commercial work involves contractual disputes surrounding restrictive covenants, non-compete agreements, and multiple allegations of fundamental breaches, misrepresentation, and fraud, in business and sport related matters.
John advises Insolvency Practitioners, individuals and companies involved in a wide range of litigation from statutory demands and bankruptcy petitions to large scale claims.
John is also regularly instructed to advise and represent parties in solicitor-own client costs disputes. Current and recent work in this area includes disputing a law firm’s entitlement to remuneration under its retainer, and representing clients in the assessment of legal costs.
Acting for a wide variety of clients from high profile companies and sporting entities, to private individuals, John has quickly built a reputation for his fearlessness and meticulous tactical approach, whilst maintaining a sensible balance when advising on strategy and prospects of success.
Prior to commencing his legal career John established and operated his own businesses. His commercial experience and entrepreneurialism have provided John with a deep understanding of the needs of his commercial clients, whilst pragmatically applying the law to achieve commercially desirable outcomes.
John graduated from Bar School in 2012 with the highest possible honour, ‘Outstanding’. John is a member of The Honourable Society of Inner Temple and Bar of England and Wales.
